Email Your Rep: Secure Funding for NOAA
NOAA, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, experienced layoffs of around 800 employees earlier this year. With the federal government determined to slash budgets and environmental regulations across federal agencies, we must speak up to keep NOAA’s programs operational.
We must advocate for a healthy budget to prevent additional layoffs and allow NOAA to continue doing essential work to protect marine ecosystems and monitor MPAs.
The budget will go into effect around October 1st, so make your voice heard and encourage your Representative to advocate for the budget needed to effectively protect our oceans.

Hello, my name is {your name} and I am a concerned citizen from {your town}.
I am reaching out on behalf of Impact for Oceans, an marine conservation advocacy group, to urge Senator {Senator’s name} to protect the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) budget . In order to effectively carry out NOAA’s essential monitoring, research, and education services, we cannot reduce the agency’s budget. It is imperative that we take immediate action to protect our oceans, conserve our fisheries, and maintain databases.
Please speak up for NOAA and prevent budget cuts that would hinder NOAA’s ability to provide weather and climate monitoring services on which we all depend. If our oceans and fisheries are not properly managed, the health of our communities and economy will greatly suffer. I urge you to advocate for NOAA’s budget and converse with your peers about the essential services NOAA provides to our nation.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
